Martin Figura was born in Liverpool. After 25 years in the Army he now works as a photographer and for New Writing Partnership. His first collection, The Little Book of Harm, (2000) was reprinted three times.
His second collection Ahem was published by Eggbox in 2005.
He was awarded an MA (distinction) in Writing the Visual by Norwich School of Art and Design in 2006. His third collection Whistle was published by Arrowhead Press in 2009. He has been adapting it for radio with the award winning playwright Fraser Grace.
He runs Café Writers, a successful monthly live literature series in Norwich.
